Create an API key and connect an AI assistant

With an API key other programs can talk to EuroPlaybook. For example an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT, or your developer’s software.

Only owners and admins create keys.

  1. Go to Settings › API keys.
  2. Give the key a name, for example “Claude on my laptop”.
  3. Choose what the key may do (its scopes). Give no more than needed. Read-only is often enough.
  4. Optionally choose an expiry date.
  5. Copy the key. You see it only once. Keep it like a password.
  • A key never has more rights than the person who created it. If that person leaves the team, the key stops working.
  • With write rights, a key can add or update products and send sales data directly. Packaging and product data for other regimes (electrical, textiles) it can only propose: someone in your team confirms it in the app (“via the API”). Locking figures and approving reports stay with people.
  • You revoke a key with Revoke. It stops working at once.

Your AI assistant needs two things: the address of EuroPlaybook’s server for assistants (MCP) and your key. MCP set-up shows per assistant what to fill in where. The API keys page in the app also has an example you can copy.

Then you can ask the assistant things like:

  • “Which products have no checked packaging yet?”
  • “Propose packaging for DG-SPRINK-01 based on this product description.”
  • “What do I need to do in Belgium for packaging?”
